Eco-Friendly Vacations in Normandy
A living landscape, a
ly designed to last
This is a green, eco-friendly campground that respects the environment and is based on a sustainable design and philosophy. It is built on a former pasture that gets plenty of sun, has gentle slopes, and was once farmed in the true tradition of Normandy’s farms. Its campsites, surrounded by embankments and hedgerows of native species (oak, beech, hazel, wild cherry, gorse, etc.), were our original setting, which we have preserved. The hedgerows have been restored. We are continuing to restore vegetation on the slopes by replanting chestnut trees, wild privet, wild cherry trees, hornbeams, and other hazel trees.
The first species inventory, conducted before the campground opened, identified about 60 species of trees and shrubs.
Small herb gardens have been set up near the campsites so you can add some flavor to your meals. No need to clear the brush—the goats Unique and Humour take care of everything, and biodiversity is preserved.
Toward a Carbon-Free Energy Future
Eco-friendly
and alternative
At our eco-friendly campground, the greenhouse fully embodies our commitment to sustainable development: in particular, we grow tomatoes there that are used to make the pizzas served at the bar. Concrete technical solutions have been implemented to reduce energy consumption and limit the use of resources. Faucets are equipped with aerators to conserve water, while the reception area is heated by a pellet stove. Water for the restrooms is heated by solar panels installed on the building, and the pool water is heated by an air-source heat pump.
O2 Camping isn’t just a vacation spot surrounded by nature—it’s also a sanctuary ecosystem where biodiversity thrives naturally. The grounds feature areas that support wildlife, with careful management of the environments, late-mowing zones, and landscaping based on native plant species. We prioritize wildflower meadows over ornamental landscaping. This commitment to the natural world is fully in line with the identity of our sustainable campground, which has already been recognized with the GonM and Destination d’excellence certifications, and is currently undergoing validation for the Clé Verte certification.

Every detail counts
Concrete Actions
for a more sustainable campground
To limit light pollution at our eco-friendly campground while ensuring the safety of our guests, solar-powered markers and streetlights illuminate the grounds at nightfall. This thoughtful lighting preserves the “dark sky” environment, protects nocturnal biodiversity, and allows for better stargazing.
Rainwater collection systems installed in 2023 make it possible to water plants during periods of drought. Since 2024, a communal compost bin located at the campground entrance and a compost bucket in each unit have made it easier to sort organic waste at the source.
The management of green spaces is also designed to preserve biodiversity, with areas of tall grass that provide shelter and food for small wildlife. Finally, an electric vehicle charging station, along with the promotion of hiking and biking trails that start directly from the campground or at the destination, encourage more sustainable vacations and reduce car use.
The serene tranquility of a nature vacation
Ecotourism in Normandy
starts right here!
For waste management, recycling takes place in a designated area away from the campsites to minimize noise disturbances. A recycling bin for organic waste is provided in each unit and must be emptied before departure into the communal compost bin located at the campground entrance.
Green waste is shredded and reused as fertilizer on nearby farmers’ fields.
Our goals include earning the Clé Verte certification by 2027, as well as, in the longer term, the European Ecolabel and Green Globe certifications. Through all of these commitments, O2 Camping reaffirms its identity as an eco-friendly campground, ideal for fully experiencing slow tourism in Normandy.
